Optimizing Household Waste and Cow Dung Proportions for Quality Vermicompost Production

نویسندگان

چکیده

Aim: To standardize the ratio of household waste and cow dung for quality vermicompost based on physical properties.
Study Design: Completely Randomized Design (Factorial).
Place Duration Study: Vermicompost Production Unit, RPCAU, Pusa during April 2018 to June 2018.
Methodology: Household was combined with in three different proportions (35:65, 50:50 65:35 dung, respectively) along rock phosphate suitable species earthworms @ 2 kg per ton material at temperature moisture (370C 65% w/w under shade. Various parameters were analyzed 30, 60 90 days after setting windrows.
Results: prepared from (50:50) recorded lowest content 16.0% highest water holding capacity (20.7%) end vermicomposting process (90 days) 94% passed through 4.0 mm IS sieve.
Conclusion: equal proportion emerged out as better observed characteristics.

Vermicomposting of cow dung, kitchen waste and sewage sludge with bagasse using Eisenia fetida

The sugar cane industry produces significant amounts of cane trash and bagasse. Inappropriate disposal of agro-wastes can lead to environmental problems. Converting wastes such as cane trash and bagasse (Bg) to a fertilizer and conditioner is the aim of sustainable waste management in sugar cane industry. Cow dung (CD), kitchen waste (KW), and sewage sludge (SS) were mixed with bagasse as amend...
